The railroad from the valley town of Flåm to the mountain village of Myrdal is one of Norway's premier tourist attractions. On its steep journey up the mountain the train stops at Kjosfossen. Passengers then disembark onto the train platform to view this spectacular waterfall. From this perspective, the water seems to appear out of nowhere from the top of the mountain and thunders down with great force throwing up a great deal of foam and spray as it makes its way through a narrow valley. Then, without announcement, ethereal music begins to play at the station and performers leave the building you can see in these photos, make their way down to the ledge in front of the falls and and perform ballet-like moves. A female performer can be seen in the landscape oriented photo.
The stamp is part of a three stamp set issued by Norway in 2005 depicting tourist sights.
