Hudson is a small unincorporated community on the border of South Dakota and Iowa just south of Canton. It has a population of 520, as of the 2010 census. The population has risen about 30% from the 2000 census.
Located in Lincoln County, Hudson is not on any major state or federal highways. SD Highway 46 is about 3 miles south of Hudson.
The town does not have a separate school system but is co-opted with Alcester.
Hudson is home to a bio-refining plant just south of town. The facility commenced operation in 2004 and will produce almost 150,000 gallons of ethanol per year.
