Very ornate historic house also known as Kalvelage Schloss with an interesting history on the near west side of Milwaukee.

The Kalvelage Mansion was built in 1896 for Joseph B. Kalvelage, who was the Secretary-Treasurer of Hoffman-Billings Plumbing Fixture Supply Company and resided in the the house from 1898 until 1920. The mansion was designed by architect Otto Strack in a Late Victorian as a German Baroque Castle with German and French Renaissance influences. The mansion features several terra cotta figures inspired by Greek mythology on its front facade and decorative iron railings. The interior features extensive detailed woodwork and brass light fixtures.
Following Kalvelage long occupation of the mansion it has a varied groups of owners and uses. The house was owned for a couple of years by the Klu Klux Klan, following this the mansion served as the Roger Williams Hospital, a Baptist based Christian hospital, for nine years. The mansion then served several years as a rooming house and apartment house until again returning to single family home. The house has been restored and is open occasionally for tours as scheduled on website listed below.
