In North Attleborough, off Elmwood Street, is World War I Memorial Park, which has a petting zoo. This zoo is smallish, with several fenced in areas and shelters.

At the time, animals that could be seen and pet (that is, if they parked themselves within arms reach of the fence) included: sheep, goats, pigs, a pony, llamma, and deer. Two new additions include Travis the pig and Clover the pony. The main access point is the driveway to the barn. At one corner is a dispenser, where for a quarter, you can get a handful of feed. The animals are on a limited diet, and, thus, this isn't the place to bring your stale bread and garbage! There is also a path around the back of the fences where you might be able to pet an animal there.

There was an aviary where you could see - but not pet - a phesant, a turkey, and a duck. In addition, there is another area, across the main road, where there is a set of caged areas with emus (not friendly), and another area behind the garage that had no animals.

Since you are in a wooded park, you might see some other 'wild' animals, such as deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, and foxes, or hear one of many species of birds.

On the side of the paved path is a rock that has engraved in it "Marcus Ralston Rotary Petting Zoo." I did not see this name referenced in the town web site, so I didn't include it in the title above. There are many plaques around that are about some person who was connected to the zoo or park.

There is no fee for entering the zoo. Parking is along the main road. There is an old garage that is now painted in natural scenes and used for event rentals and administrative offices. Beside the garage is a playground for tots. Down the road is a flower garden and play area that includes a big slide.
