This historic sluice gate is part of the system of waterways which were used to bring boats laden with coal to the boiling vessels of the old saltworkings.

The sluice gate is in good order and can be crossed as part of the footpath bridge over the water. The reflections in the water are superb here with the serene water managed by tidal flaps and gates, such as this one.
