The historical charm of this former fishing community has been preserved artistically on this garage door. Artist Point, the harbor, and the Coast Guard station remain much as it did in the 20’s and 30’s, but many other changes have taken place over the last century. Lyle Saethre, one of Grand Marais’ artists, painted this garage door in 2003. Depicted in the painting are: the U.S. Coast Guard station, Olson Bro’s Livery, Leng Bldg, Wireless Station, Sterling Hotel in East Bay, and the S.S. America.
