This very simple cenotaph stands near to the entrance of Hall Leys Park close to Matlock Bridge. It honours men of the First and Second World Wars.

There is a very small plaque at the bottom of the rear of the plinth.

Who Put it Here?: MR. T. W. Hawksworth
Description of Memorial: It consists of a small stone about 2 1/2 feet wide and 4 ½ feet high. It is surrounded with a very low circular metal railing about 6 inches high. The railing contains poppies, the normal symbol of remembrance from the First World War.
The park was refurbished in 2007 and this memorial moved slightly, and the ground re-paved. This new layout provides more space for the annual memorial service.
