Middlesex Fells State Reservation - Stoneham, MA - State Park Passport Locations on Waymarking.com

In Stoneham, along Woodland Road, is the headquarters to the Middlesex Fells State Reservation. In the parking lot, on a kiosk, is a stamp station for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Park Passport Program.

The headquarters is at 4 Woodland Road, near the intersection with Ravine Road. The location is along the eastern shore of Spot Pond and is south of the dam. The building is known as the Botume House. It is open Monday - Thursday, 9 am 4 pm. The web site states that it will house the visitor center for the reservation. Some years ago, I had been inside - there were temporary displays at the time.

The park has over 100 miles of walking trails, some of which are open for mountain biking, as well. There are two observation towers (though one has been closed due to vandalism). There are the remains of an industrial village. There is also canoe and kayak rental available to paddle on the pond. The terrain varies widely. There are trails that are fairly flat, and there are some that go over rocky ledge.

The kiosk is located along the sidewalk to the Botume House, so you do not need to enter the house. The box is red and has a lock. You need the combination, which is in the passport book . The design on the stamp is of the Botume House, and the words, "Middlesex Fells."
