Thomas Frederick "Tommy" Cooper (19 March 1921 - 15 April 1984) was the most popular & funniest British comedians who ever lived.
A statue of Cooper was unveiled in his hometown of Caerphilly, Wales in 2008 by fellow Welshman and Hollywood entertainer Sir Anthony Hopkins, who is patron of The Tommy Cooper Society.
Tommy Cooper gags have been included in a list of the best jokes of all time in which the former stand-up comedian dominates.
His famous two-line jokes and one liners, known as “Cooperisms”, feature heavily in a list of the best jokes of all time as voted by almost 40,000 people.
Cooper has more entries in the top 50 than any other comedian and had five in the top 10 alone.
Tommy always made me laugh, even when I did not feel like laughing,
he was just crazy, & his tricks never worked. My favorite Cooperism :-
A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: "Ugh, that's the ugliest baby I've ever seen!" The woman walks to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: "The driver just insulted me!" The man says: "You go up there and tell him off. Go on, I'll hold your monkey for you."
