The National September 11 Memorial and Museum located in New York City is a tribute to the 2,983 people that were killed in the September 11 incident as well as the February 26, 1993 where a truck bomb was detonated in the basement parking of the World Trade Center.
Many of the exhibits that are planned for the memorial and museum are still under construction and will open in the future. Right now, the fountains that mimics the footprint of the buildings of the World Trade Center are the centerpiece of the memorial. They are each square with water entering the fountain at the level of the viewers and falls downward on all four sides into a refecting pool. In the center, the water falls again into another four sided fall. This time, the bottom is not visible to the viewer. The fountain is surrounded on all four sides by the names of the fallen men and women and firefighters who died on those two days.
At two places, there are kiosks that people can user to search a database of names to find the location of a persons name on the memorial.
In one of the buildings, there is wreckage from the World Trade Center.
