Sagres is a mural made of tiles placed in pavilhão Carlos Lopes in Lisbon.
It´s a work from the Portuguese artist Jorge Colaço and was made in the Sacavem Factory in 1922.
The panel represents the Prince Henry the Navigator standing in Sagres promontory (Cape Saint Vincent in Algarve) facing Neptune that rides wild horses and is fighting the cape. This panel is probably a metaphor about how Prince Henry with his strong will fought the fear and the fury of the Ocean and lead his navigators to the south seas across cape of Good Hope (named like that after the Portuguese manage to cross it) and reach India (Vasco da Gama).
