Platz Grocery & Dressmaking
1863 John Platz

When John Platz built this buildin in 1863 for his grocery and his daughter's dressmaking shop, he actually owned only half of his north wall and only half of this south wall.  The practice of sharing walls was not usual in St. Charles, and these common walls helped preserve these Civil War era buildings.
