This building, very simplistic in its syle was constructed in 1922 shortly after the fire that destroyed most of the buildings on this street in Olds, Alberta.

In Februay of 1992 a fire broke out that destroyed many of the businesses on this street. Most were quickly re-constructed that year and the years following. The businesses lost included:
Davey Brother's building $6,250 loss
Olds Mercantile $24,000 loss
M.R. Maybank's drug store $15,000 loss
Scott Brothers $8,000 loss
Armstrong Bakery $17,000 loss
E.Grimes $7,500 loss
Currie Brothers $1,000 loss
Following the fire, in May of that year, the Town Council put in place new bylaws to regulate construction and fire prevention.
