This large scupture is found at the end of E. Rosewood Ave. where the street ends at a traffic circle where Rosewood intersects with Trinity Placed on the Trinity University campus. The traffic circle is actually a small pool, or fountain in which a stone base has been raised above the water line of the pool. On the stone base is a large bronze sculpting of a nude male sitting on a bench next to a globe of the world. The seated male figure is holding a torch of enlightenment with his left arm resting on the globe. His right hand holds an opened book on his lap, which is conveniently modestly draped. The statue fo the man is about seven feet from ground to top of head and is mounted on a flat stone base.
On the perimeter of the fountain area, a small sidewalk allows a visitor to read a bronze plaque that states:
"The scholar
is the student
of the world"
