This is a delightful sculpture to find on a busy corner in the bustling shopping district of Myeongdong in Seoul. This larger-than-life bronze sculpture depicts a woman and five children on a seesaw in poses of utter joy.

Unfortunately there seems to be no readily available information on this sculpture or its creator, Yoon, Suk-won. It is stamped with the title, sculptor's name, and the date 1986, on the base.

The entire sculpture measures perhaps 20 ft x 30 ft, consisting of a seesaw and fulcrum and human figures. On the raised end of the seesaw is a woman with her arms raised over her head and her braided hair flowing. In the middle, over the fulcrum, is a by in a seated/sliding position facing down toward the other children. On the ground end of the seesaw are four children - a boy (gripping the hand hold) and two girls seated (one clutching a doll) and on the end, a boy standing with both hands high over his head.
Somehow this has escaped the developers rush to build in this upscale, prestigious area of the city, ranked 4th highest in rental value in all of Asia.
