"Hoch über dem Gemeindezentrum, südwestlich des alten Dorfkernes, thront die dem hl. Blasius geweihte Kirche, die heute noch Wahrzeichen von Völs ist. Erstmals 1286 erwähnt, erfolgte im 18. Jh eine Wiederherstellung und Vergrößerung und damit Barockisierung. Die umfangreichen Innen- und Außenrestaurierungen waren 1986 anläßlich der 700-Jahr-Feier abgeschlossen. Bereits im 15. Jh. war die Blasiuskirche ein beliebter Wallfahrtsort.

Das "Schwarze Kreuz" am linken Seitenaltar wurde 1522 in der Werkstätte des Stephan Godl in Bronze gegossen, der auch für den Guß der "Schwarzen Mander" in der Innsbruck Hofkirche verantwortlich war. Das Kreuz zählt unter Kunstkennern zu den wertvollsten Renaissancearbeiten nördlich der Alpen. Es stand bis 1786 an der Wegkreuzung Völs - Vellenberg in einer Wegkapelle am Völser Bühel.

"High above the community center, southwest of the old village, perched to St. Blasius church, the day is still the symbol of Vols.
