"Markant wie ein Wahrzeichen steht die weithin sichtbare Wallfahrtskirche Maria Locherboden auf dem Höhenzug des Sassberges vor der Mieminger Kette.
Seit 1740 bestand hier, am Eingang eines Bergstollens, eine kleine lokale Wallfahrt zu einem Maria-Hilf Bild.
1871 betete die todkranke Maria Kalb aus Rum bei Innsbruck vor diesem Bild und wurde auf wundersame Weise geheilt.
Nach diesem Ereignis errichtete man für die wachsende Zahl der Pilger zunächst eine neue Gnadenkapelle beim Stolleneingang und im Jahr 1901 die neugotische Wallfahrtskirche.
Am 30. Juni 1901 wurde das Gnadenbild-eine Kopie des Lucas-Kranach-Bildes vom Dom zu Innsbruck - in festlicher Prozession in die neue Kirche übehttp://www.almenrausch.at/ausflugsziele/tirol/tiroler_oberland/wallfahrtskirche_locherboden.htmlrtragen, und am 6.
