"Die Burg Klamm wurde zwischen 1220 und 1230 errichtet. Urkundlich wird sie 1284 als Besitz des Grafen von Görz genannt. 1250 werden die Herren von Chlamm als Lehnsherren von Petersberg genannt, die in der Heilig-Blut-Kapelle im nahen Stift Stams ihre Grabstätte hatten.
Bis zum Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts war Klamm der Mittelpunkt der Verwaltung des Besitzes des Hochstiftes Augsburg. Anschließend gelangte die Burg in den Besitz von Graf Meinhard II. von Tirol, später an die Herren von Milser, deren bekanntester Vertreter Ritter Oswald von Milser (Mils bei Imst) war. 1399 kam Klamm als Erbschaft an die Starkenberger. Da sie sich gegen ihren Landesfürsten Herzog Friedrich IV. auflehnten, wurden sie 1423 entmachtet. Klamm wurde verwaltet oder als Pfand vergeben.
Nach mehreren Besitzerwechseln im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert kaufte der deutsche Industrielle Hünnebeck 1956 die stark verfallene Burg und ließ sie renovieren. Sie ist immer noch im Besitz der Familie.
