This Millstone is placed in a wall with a marble piece in the center that says Lyn Mills 1788. It was placed there is 1967 to celebrate the Centennial year of Canada. It also reminds people of the history of Lyn and the fact that at one point it was the industrial center of Eastern Ontario, having at one time 5 working mills and several hotels and restaurants. Now, more than a few hundred years later, the village of Lyn is a ghostly memory of itself. It no longer has any mills with the skeleton of the last one demolished years ago. Also there are no hotels and the only restaurant is a chip wagon across from the millstone. For a lot more history on Lyn and area, a person should visit the Lyn Historical Society just down the road. I went there and spent 3 hours talking with the curator and learned some things about Lyn I never knew. So if you're in the area, check out the millstone and remember that Lyn was once the Mill Capital of Eastern Ontario.
If you have a few minutes you can visit another waymark of mine adjacent to this "The Douglas A. Scott Memorial Park", in memory of a very young local slain RCMP Officer.
Cheers
