EN: The early history of this church is unknown. There was an abbey of a minor mendicant order in this location that was neutralized in 1274. In 1279 the abandoned abbey was handed over to the order of the Poor Clares. The church was changed and extended several times. After the reformation in 1531 the abbey was teared down and the church became a parish church.
After the block out of Roman Catholics stopped, they were allowed to worship here in 1789 and the church was finally handed back to the growing Roman Catholic community in 1853.
There was a massive redesign and extension in 1858/1859. The roof with the flèche is of that date, before it was flat.
The whole church was carefully renovated in 2009/2010.
DE: Die frühe Geschichte dieser Kirche ist unbekannt. Sie gehörte zu einer Abtei eines kleinen Bettelordens, der im Jahre 1274 aufgehoben wurde. Im Jahre 1279 wurde die verlassene Abtei nach den Klarissen übergeben. Die Kirche wurde verändert und mehrfach erweitert. Nach der Reformation im Jahre 1531 wurde die Abtei abgerissen und die Kirche wurde zur Pfarrkirche.
Nachdem die römisch-katholische Gemeinde wieder zugelassen wurde, erhielten sie im Jahr 1789 Gastrecht in der Kirche; schließlich wurde sie den Katholiken im Jahre 1853 ganz übergeben.
1859/1859 wurde die Kirche stark überarbeitet und erweitert. Der grösste teil der Bausubstanz stammt aus dieser Zeit; dazu gehören auch der Dachreiter, das Dach und die Uhr im Giebel
2009/2010 wurde die Kirche erneut renoviert.
