The main museum of the canton Basel-Land is located in a former armory in the historic center of Liestal.

EN: The old armory of Liestal is a freestanding building in the center of town. It was built in 1520-1523. Some timber in the ground floor and under the roof is even older and was probably reused from a previous building. After 1654 it was used as a granary. When Canton was divided in 1833 it was renovated and reconverted to the central armory of the new Canton, the upper windows and the decorations over the entrances are of this period. The armory was in operation until 1975.
Since 1982 the Museum of the canton Basel-Landschaft is housed here.
DE: Das alte Zeughaus von Liestal ist ein freistehendes Gebäude im Zentrum der Altstadt. Es wurde 1520-1523 erbaut. Einige Balken im Erdgeschoss und unterdem Dach stammen wohl von einem Vorgängerbau und sind noch älter. Nach 1654 wurde es als Kornspeicher genutzt. Nach der Kantonsteilung 1833 wurde es renoviert und wieder zum Zeughaus, die oberen Fenster und die Verzierungen über den Toren stammen aus dieser Zeit. Das Zeughaus war bis 1975 in Betrieb.
Seit 1982 ist das Kantonsmuseum Basel-Landschaft hier untergebracht.
