EN: This church was built in 1698/99 and replaced a chapel from 1364, that was probably not the first at this location. The larger new church was integrated in the town wall that had to be teared down partially to make room. Much of the interior were donated by local notables and added in the 18th century. The tower was built in 1759, before the church had a turret.
In 1907 the church became the Christian Catholic parish church of Laufen, before it was Roman Catholic.
It was renovated in 1970/71.
It is a unostentatious white building with relatively small windows and a roofed main entrance to the west. It aligns with the town wall and the north gate that is just east of the tower.
DE: Diese Kirche wurde 1698/99 erbaut und ersetzte eine Kapelle von 1364, die war wohl auch nicht die erste an dieser Stelle war. Die größere neue Kirche wurde in die Stadtmauer integriert, die teilweise niedergerissen werden musste, um Platz zu machen. Ein grosser Teil der Innenausstattung wurde im 18. Jahrhundert vom örtlichen Adel gespendet und hinzugefügt. Der Turm wurde 1759 gebaut, zuvor hatte die Kirche einen Dachreiter.
Im Jahr 1907 wurde die vorher römisch-katholische Kirche zur christl-katholischen Pfarrkirche von Laufen. 1970/71 wurde sie renoviert.
Es ist ein schlichtes weißes Gebäude mit relativ kleinen Fenstern und einem überdachten Haupteingang im Westen. Sie ist direkt an der Stadtmauer direkt neben dem Nordtor, das unmittelbar östlich des Kirchturms ist.
