EN: Vorderes Gundeldingen is one of two remaining castles in this quarter. It was built in the middle of the 16th century by Hieronymus Iselin. It turned out to be too costly and the family had to sell the estate in 1596. It was remodeled in baroque style around 1730.
Between 1925 and 1927 the street behind the castle was built and a housing complex grew. Most adjoining buildings of the castle were demolished. The remaining main tract is hidden in a side street so well that the classic work on Swiss castles stated in 1971 that the castle must have been destroyed in the 1930s.
DE: Vorderes Gundeldingen ist einer von zwei verbliebenen Burgen in diesem Stadtviertel. Es wurde in der Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts von Hieronymus Iselin gebaut. Es erwies sich als zu teuer und die Familie musste das Anwesen im Jahre 1596 zu verkaufen. Es wurde um 1730 im Barockstil umgebaut.
Zwischen 1925 und 1927 wurde die Straße hinter dem Schloss gebaut und ein Wohnkomplex bildete sich in der Umgebung. Die meisten Nebengebäude des Schlosses wurden abgerissen. Der übrige Haupt-Trakt befindet sich in einer Seitenstraße so gut versteckt, dass das Standardwerk über Schweizer Burgen im Jahr 1971 feststellte, dass das Schloss in den 1930er Jahren zerstört worden sein muss.
