EN: The Imhof house is a high narrow building north of the former moated castle of Binningen that used to form an enclosed atrium along with the nearby Balik house.

The house was probably built 1591/92, the oldest known depiction dates from 1670. It clearly shows that there were no major modifications in later centuries. The only major change was the relocation of the main entrance to the north face in 1822. In 1927 the adjacent barn was replaced by a garage.

Architecturally it is a typical urban row house of its time with the exception that it was designed as a solitary building and has remained like this.

In 2007 the dilapidated building was completely renovated. The garage was torn down and replaced by annexes. Since then the building houses a hotel and the General Register Office of Binningen

DE: Das Imhof-Haus ist ein hoher schmaler Bau nördlich des ehemaligen Weiherschlosses Binningen, das früher zusammen mit dem nebenstehenden Balik-Haus einen geschlossenen Vorhof bildete.

Das Haus wurde vermutlich 1591/92 gebaut, die älteste bekannte Darstellung stammt von 1670. Daraus ist ersichtlich, dass es in den späteren Jahrhunderten zu keinen nennenswerten Umbauten kam. Die einzige grössere Veränderung war die Verlegung des Haupteingangs an die Nordfassage 1822. 1927 wurde der angebaute Ökonomieteil durch eine Autogarage ersetzt.

Architektonisch ist es ein typisches städtisches Reihenhaus jener Zeit, aussergewöhnlicherweise wurde es aber als Einzelbau konzipiert und ist dies auch geblieben.

Im Jahr 2007 wurde das heruntergekommene Gebäude komplett renoviert. Die Garage wurde abgerissen und durch Anbauten ersetzt. Seither behergt das Haus ein Hotel und das Zivilstandsamt von Binningen
