EN: The Augustinerhof is a medieval town house on the cathedral hill in Basel. It was acquired in 1379 by the Margrave of Baden and used as a residence. 1522 Margrave Ernst sold the property to the faculty of the arts of the University. From 1922 -37 the building housed the famous engravings collection of the Museum of Fine Arts. From 1937 to 1998 it was the Swiss Institute of Ethnology, then the property was sold by the State to private owners who renovated it.
DE: Der Augustinerhof ist ein mittelalterliches Stadthaus auf dem Münsterhügel in Basel. Er wurde 1379 vom Markgraf von Baden erworben und als Residenz benutzt. 1522 verkaufte Markgraf Ernst die Liegenschaft an die Artistenfakultät der Universität. Von 1922 -37 beherbergte das Gebäude das bekannte Kupferstichkabinett des Kunstmuseums. Von 1937 bis 1998 war hier das Schweizerische Institut für Volkskunde, dann wurde die Liegenschaft vom Kanton an private Eigentümer verkauft und danach renoviert.
