"The bell tower at City Hall now holds items that will soon be a part of history.
A time capsule has been placed in the tower as part of the city’s 2011 centennial celebration.
To be opened in 2061, items inside the capsule include: a scrapbook of events held during the centennial year; police and fire challenge coins; Westminster Mall memorabilia; city newsletters; parks, recreation and libraries activity guides; sports memorabilia; the Westminster history book, “Westminster: The First 100 Years; and much, much more." "The 1961 time capsule was placed under the flagpole at the old City Hall (currently the Municipal Court). It was unveiled on Sept. 7, 2011.
Items inside the capsule include:
- Robert Joyner photos of the city
- 50th anniversary of incorporation celebration program
- 1961 dedication program
- Open house program
- 3 tapes of the anniversary celebration
- Tape recording donated by Jim Hague
- Complete listing of City officials, boards and commissions
- The 50th year history of Westminster program
- The program of Miss Westminster contest
- Autographed bingo card from Lions Club
- Charter
- Two Westminster Journals and clippings from other area publications
- A Wonderful Westminster pamphlet
- The 3rd annual City report
- A copy of the original incorporation papers including the signatures
