L'Allier is one of the last remaining wild rivers in Europe and contains a unique wildlife (especially birds). The term 'wild' means that the river is quite free méandrer or widely spread on the surface according to its flow. The hydrological regime of the Allier is a rainfed submitted oceanic climate. Floods are formed during long rainy periods ranging generally from November to April and most often the Atlantic Ocean.
