This is just one of many memorials and monuments in Duncan's Memorial Park. They are dedicated not just to veterans and wars, but also to famous citizens and events in history.

Duncan's Memorial Park is about 7-8 blocks long and runs along US 81 in the middle of town. It is unique as one place where Duncan has bestowed its honors over the years. The earliest monument Team Blakelylaw could find was dated 1946 and dedicated to those lost in World War II.

Most of the memorials and monuments dedicated to the military, such as this one, are located in the northern half of the park. There is a nice, short walk linking one memorial to another with benches for contemplation before almost all of of them.

Although a number of the military memorials are dedicated to those from Duncan, this one is dedicated to all POW-MIAs "whose supreme sacrifice helped to keep our nation free." The monument is also inscribed with the recognizeable POW-MIA logo and an inscription from Zechariah 9:12: "Turn you to the stronghold. Ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee.
