This Historic marker tells of a Mesquite hotel that had the first electric lights in town.

The hotel no longer exists; the site is now a vacant lot.

The brick home on this site was converted to a hotel in the 1920's. Clara Granger, owner, purchased a Kohler generator and installed lights in the rooms. They were the first electric lights in Mesquite. Until that time coal oil lamps were used.
