With the help of TELUS, Capital BIXI started in May 2011 in the heart of Canada’s Capital. There are now 250 Capital BIXI bikes located at 25 self-service stations in downtown Ottawa and Gatineau. Capital BIXI bikes are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week from April to November.
There are several ways to use the Capital BIXI bike system. You can subscribe for 1 year, subscribe for 30 days, buy a 24-hour access pass or buy a 72-hour access pass. Additional fees apply when trips are longer than 30 minutes (45 minutes for annual and monthly pass holders).
Bixi no longer operates in the Ottawa region since 2014, nor VeloGo, it's successor since 2018.
