In beginning of 1980s the Muslims of Dublin organized a collection to buy a new larger building, replacing the first Dublin mosque, which capacity didn't accomodate the growing community. They bought this church built in 1860s in neo-romanesque style and converted it to the new Dublin mosque. Later, other properties in the neighborhood were acquired for the Islamic center.
At the front wall there are large "Dublin Mosque" signs in English, Arabic and Gaelic.
