Located at 1 Fremont St on Las Vegas's famous Fremont Experience Mall, this marker i set in the pavement near the Golden Gate Casino.
The marker reads:

"At this site the first
TELEPHONE
was installed in Las Vegas

dedicated during Las Vegas'
Diamond Jubilee
October 1980
Central Telephone - Nevada"

This website (visit link) adds:

"1907 - The first telephone in Las Vegas is installed at the office of Charles "Pop" Squires at the Hotel Nevada, now the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino. The second telephone is installed at his home four blocks east on Fremont."
