Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema
In the beginning of 2008 a memorial stone and the urn with the ashes of Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema were placed behind the monument. Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema was very famous because of his book and the movie ‘Soldaat van Oranje’ (Soldier of Orange)
The film is set during the German occupation of the Netherlands during World War II, and shows how individual students have different roles in the war. The story is based on the book Soldaat van Oranje by Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, who lived the story himself.
On 30 October 2010 the musical ‘Soldaat van Oranje’ had it’s premiere at the airfield Valkenburg.
