< DE >  Das Haus Waagplatz 1 war von 1328 bis 1407 Gerichtsgebäude. In der ältesten Zeit Salzburgs fanden vor diesem Haus auch die Hinrichtungen statt. Noch 1590 ist hier der Pranger erwähnt, der wohl erst Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts in die Griesgasse übersiedelte. Um 1500 entstand hier die erste Trinkstube. Das Haus brannte 1635 ab und war danach nur noch Wirtshaus und Gästeherberge, und hatte in der Folge verschiedene Namen: 1564 wird es schlicht Trinkstube genannt, 1647 Haus beim Mohrenkopf und 1881 Gasthof zum Erzherzog Karl. Gegen den Waagplatz hin besitzt das allseits freistehende Haus ein monumentales Wandbild "Aussaat und Ernte" von Karl Reisenbichler (1928).

< EN >  The house Waagplatz 1 was a courthouse from 1328 to 1407. In the earliest times of Salzburg the house was also the site for executions. The pillory is mentioned here in 1590, and probably moved to the Griesgasse in the beginning of the 17th Century . Around 1500 this was the first tavern. The house burned down in 1635 and was thereafter only inn and hostel, and had subsequently different names: 1564 it is simply called 'Trinkstube' (=tavern), 1647 'Haus beim Mohrenkopf' (= House at the blackamoor's head) and 1881 'Gasthof zum Erzherzog Karl' (= guesthouse Archduke Karl). On the front towards the Waagplatz it has a monumental mural "Aussaat und Ernte" (=sowing and harvest) by Karl Reisenbichler (1928).
