The
Trinity United Methodist Church stands on the corner of North Cullen and
West Angelica Streets, a couple of blocks from downtown Rensselaer, Indiana.
The lower foundation stone
indicates that the church building was built as the Trinity Methodist Episcopal
Church, in 1889.
Another foundation stone,
near that one, indicates that the church was remodelled in 1911.
There is a bronze colored
plaque on the wall that reads:-
TRINITY UNITED METHODIST
CHURCH
ORIGINALLY CALLED
IROQUOIS MISSION WAS
THE FIRST RELIGIOUS
ORGANIZATION IN
JASPER COUNTY
ESTABLISHED
OCTOBER 22, 1833
I visited on a warm day,
well warm for the first day in December. My wife was visiting with her
sister and family, that live in Rensselaer, so I got time and the opportunity,
to walk around the interesting sights of downtown Rensselaer.
