Marker Text: When the Ehret Brothers Store was built on the far edge of town it was largest department store in Central Oregon and the first brick building constructed in Redmond. Using three brick layers, it took the Advanced Construction Company only 20 days to complete. The first floor originally housed the general merchandise business of Chris and Carl Ehret, while the second floor was rented out for office and meeting space. The exterior was covered with stucco in the mid 1940’s to “modernize” the building.
