The Henry Judge Harness Shop Building is located between the
United States Hotel and
Ryan's Brick Storehouse (Jacksonville Inn). The "c.1858" date shown on the historical plaque must refer to the date C.C. Beekman purchased this property, which was originally part of the United States hotel lot. This entire block was destroyed during a fire in April 1874. The present building was built on this site later in 1874 and Judge and his partner Jeremiah Nunan sold saddlery here, until Judge broke the partnership a year later. Nunan continued at this location and in the 1880s switched to general merchandise. Today the building houses a gift shop.
Additional information about this structure can be found on the State of Oregon Inventory of Historic Properties form.
