This station services commuters from the northern part of Carlsbad on "The Coaster", the nickname for the North County Transit District's Coastal Rail commuter railroad between Oceanside at the north end and San Diego's Santa Fe station at the south end. The Coaster runs 11 trains each way on weekdays and 4 each way on weekends.
