The Town of Cary, North Carolina, used grants to place two charging stations in the parking lot of the Cary Arts Center as part of a two-year evaluation.

The two charging stations are located in the parking lot on the west side of the Cary Arts Center. The lot entrance is on Faculty Avenue, off of Dry Avenue. These stations are GE WattStationTM EV Chargers. There is no fee for customers during the evaluation period.
The town web site has more information:
"In August of 2012 the Town of Cary began a two-year electric vehicle charging station pilot. This pilot, intended to evaluate three kinds of charging stations put in place for public use, was made possible by several grants and partnerships and is part of a regional effort to provide electric vehicle infrastructure called NC Get Ready!. The intent of the pilot is to evaluate the following: ease of use for the charging station user, ease of use by the Town in tracking and administrating, durability, and reliability. At the conclusion of the pilot in August of 2014, the Town will also have better information about the typical duration of a charging station session, which will assist in setting rates for charging for this service if this is a service that citizens and Council determine is wanted or needed at Town-owned locations."
