Very impressive granite memorial first erected in the memory of those servicemen who died in WWI. It was later modified to include those who died in WWII and Korea.
The facing shows a stylized cross upon which rests a vine depicting the grapes of wrath. There are sheaves of wheat, and crossed swords and rifles flanking the cross.
The dates 1914-1918 and the words ERECTED BY THE HASTINGS AND DARONTAL CHAPTERS OF THE IMPERIAL ORDER DAUGHTERS OF THE EMPIRE
IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY
The names of the 20 who died are then emblazoned.
At the bottom of the monument the words
THEIR NAME LIVETH FOREVER MORE is engraved.
The names of those who died in WWII and in Korea are engraved on the sides of the monument.

Description of Memorial: The monument is in a small parkette at the corner of Front and Main Streets in Hastings. The cenotaph is next door to the Legion branch, whose members and Auxiliary tend to it.
There are shrubs planted on either side, and a paving stone walkway up to the cenotaph.
Flag poles flank each side of the cenotaph as well.
