This planter, created to celebrate the American Bicentennial, is located on Main Street at the north end of downtown Colfax, California.

This small community of about 2,000 people created a planter at the end of the one block long downtown shopping district. As part of this planter, they included a small monitor, a device that was used to spray a powerful jet of water against gold-bearing layers of gravel to break it loose to be passed through sluices to remove and recover the gold.
The dedication plaque on the planter reads:
This planter dedicated to the people of
