EN: The origins of this church are unknown. The oldest documentation is from 794 A.D., but there was a grave found near the tower that could be dated to around 600.

This church was destroyed by Hungarian hordes in 917. In 1039 it was first documented under its new dedication to St. Leodegar. It was again destroyed or heavily damaged in the earthquake of 1356. The base of the current steeple was built in 1398; the nave and the chancel are from 1508. It was also damaged by Swedish troops in the Thirty Years War.

In the following centuries the church was regularly renovated and extended. Just a few examples are the bells in 1700, the ceiling in 1724, the roof in 1808 and the bell tower in 1846 and 1967.

The church was Roman Catholic until 1872 when the parish opposed the First Vatican Council and then joined the newly founded Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland in 1875. Still today Möhlin is the municipality with the highest number of members of this small denomination.

The remaining Roman Catholics built a new church in the town center in 1939 that is also dedicated to St. Leodegar.

Die Kirche war römisch-katholisch bis 1872, als die Gemeinde gegen die Erste Vatikanische Konzil opponierte und sich dann im Jahr 1875 der neugegründete Christ-katholische Kirche der Schweiz anschloss. Noch heute ist Möhlin die Gemeinde mit der höchsten Anzahl von Mitgliedern dieser kleiner Konfession.

Die verbleibenden Katholiken erbauten 1939 eine neue Kirche im Gemeindezentrum, die auch zu St. Leodegar geweiht ist.
