This building is located near the centre of the city of Kota Bharu, capital of the state of Kelantan. The building dates back to the days of imperialism, when the British Empire ruled the Malay states, and, one assumes, the city was much smaller. In its life this building saw the fall of empires, the failure of military conquest, the struggle for independence, and the rise of the 'new' Malaysia.
Located on a corner, this building looks to have been an office or even residence in its original incarnation, now, selling handicrafts on the ground floor.
