The house on this lot was built by Jefferson Pooler in 1909. Pooler built several houses in this district, selling this house in 1910 to Charles K. Spaulding, owner of a Newburg logging company. After purchasing the house, Spaulding transferred ownership to his daughter Beulah, who married Roy H. Mills, a bookkeeper at Spaulding's company. The Mills family lived at this house until 1943. From 1932 to 1940, Mills served as deputy banking superintendent for the State of Oregon.
