Due to the shade provided by adjacent trees and the low-profile nature of the railings, it's easy not to realize when travelling on 17th street, that the bridge over Mill Creek is a historic structure. Built in 1928, and enlarged in 1964, the bridge is 86 feet long and spans Mill Creek at the northern boundary of the historic district. The pillars, railings and decorative wingwalls on the west side of the bridge are all original to the 1928 construction. In 1964, when 17th street was widened, the new railings and pillars on the east side of the bridge were designed to match the originals on the west side, although the wingwalls were not repeated.
