This one-and-one-half-story Bungalow was built by Jefferson Pooler, builder of at least seven houses in the district. Pooler lived here with his wife Jeanette from 1910 to 1920. Pooler was the owner of Salem Sewer Pipe and in 1920, sold the house to Oregon Supreme Court Justice Lawrence Harris and his wife Jeanie. In 1924, Harris resigned from the court and sold the house to Lt. Col. Carle Abrams and his wife Myrtle. Abrams, a career military man, served in the Spanish-American War, Mexican Border War, World War I and World War II, ultimately achieving the rank of full colonel. Abrams served two terms in the Oregon Legislature, was the state budget director, co-publisher of the Oregon Statesman and president of a savings and loan. Carle Abrams lived at this house until his death in 1965 and his wife until her passing in 1972.
