The booklet entitled
100 years of the Barry County [Southern] Baptist Association (1883-1983), by Pauline Cox, mentions the Shell Knob First Baptist Church in the first associational meeting in 1884, so it has been around for at least that long. (The 1919 Minutes of the Association lists this church as having been organized in 1885, but that was probably when it obtained a state charter.) The church has
its own web site, which is always a big help to the visitor.
