DEDas genaue Aufnahmejahr des alten Fotos ist nicht bekannt, aber es muss wohl in den 1930er Jahren gewesen sein. Wir sehen das alte Reichspostgebäude am Nordrand des Königsplatzes, es wurde 1831 erbaut und im 2. Weltkrieg durch Bomben zerstört. 1963 wurde an seiner Stelle ein Neckermann- (später: Karstadt) Warenhaus errichtet, das 1999 abgerissen wurde, um Platz für das derzeitige, 2002 fertiggestellte City-Point Einkaufszentrum zu schaffen. Das Foto wurde von der Einmündung der Kölnischen Straße aus aufgenommen, das Säulenrelief am Eingang des Hauses Königsplatz 57 am linken Bildrand verrät den genauen Standort des Fotografen.

ENThe exact year of the old photo is unknown, but it must be in the 1930es. The view is the old post office building on the northern side of Königsplatz, which was erected in 1831 and destroyed by bombs in WW II. In 1963, a
Neckermann (later:
Karstadt) department store was built in the place. That was torn down in 1999 to make room for the current
City-Point shopping mall, which was finished in 2002. The photo was taken from the corner of Kölnische Strasse, the relief artwork of the entrance to no. 57 Königsplatz gives away the exact position.
