This is an outdoor exhibit at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture (Waymark) that I feel deserves to be waymarked in its own right: A rectangular flower bed the shape of a grave inside a circular steel structure of about two meters in diameter, for which graveyard soil from 131 different countries was collected and mixed together. The art installation by German sculptress Madeleine Dietz (born 1953) illustrates that burying the dead is very much a universal behavior across cultures, regardless of any religious, ideological, social and ethnical differences between them. The outdoor area of the museum is open to the public 24/7 and free of charge.
