According to the Smithsonian Art Inventory, Jean Antoine Houdon's original 1788 marble statue of George Washington, is located in Virginia's state capitol. This bronze replica was created in 1932, commemorating Washington's 200th birthday.

The replica, in its Albany, NY location has his back to Swan Street, and looks over Capitol Park West at the New York state capitol.
A search of the Smithsonian Inventory of Art (SIRIS), no original marble statue is found, but a dozen or so bronze casts are found at state capitols throughout the country.
